Girls’ Bedding Sets

Decorating a little girl’s room is often much easier than decorating a boy’s room, for the simple fact that there are so many beautiful choices in girls’ bedding sets. Anything pink, purple, flowery, or with butterflies and other “frilly” things is perfect for a baby girl or toddler. However, many parents may want to stay away from the traditional girls’ bedding sets and go for something that will grow with their baby into adolescence.

Think Beyond Pink

When choosing girls’ bedding sets, you may want to look at soft colors, like yellows, lavender, and even soft blues. Girls’ bedding sets do not have to be a traditional pink. Pink may be great when your little one is a baby, but when she’s 2 or 3, pink may be her least favorite color. Blues, greens, yellows, and browns can all be worked into a little’s girls room without too much trouble. Many girls’ bedding sets also come in black and pink or red. This sharp contrast of colors is not only girly and sophisticated, it is also very good for your baby’s developing eyes. JoJo Designs has some great girls’ bedding sets in a wide variety of colors other than pink and purple.

Think Patterns and Textures

Patterns are also very good for your child’s developing eyesight. Flowers, swirls, circles, and other fun patterns will give your baby something to look at and explore, but will also give your older girl a more “adult” feel to her room. Don’t be afraid to combine colors and patterns, but don’t go overboard either. You don’t want your daughter feeling like she’s stuck in Woodstock! Don’t be afraid to mix versatile cotton knit with soft, luscious fabrics like sateen and chenille. Minky is another soft, textured fabric that is very popular for blankets. However, stay away from fabrics like silk that will need to be dry cleaned.

Think Animals and Insects

Ladybugs, dragonflies, horses, teddy bears, and other cute insects and animals are great for little girls’ bedding sets. Ladybug bedding sets usually have a black, white, and red color scheme that is very cute for a little girl’s room. Safari and jungle themed bedding sets are just as good for girls as they are for boys. You can go western with horse themed girls’ bedding sets. Bobby Jack is one designer that carries a line of girls’ bedding sets that are jungle themed, with monkeys and other jungle animals, but that use a feminine color scheme with purples, pinks and soft browns. Migi is another designer of girls’ bedding sets that combines color with pattern to create girly, yet not frilly, bedding sets.

Keep in mind that this is a room that your little girl will be in for awhile. Purchasing a girls’ bedding set that will grow with your daughter is a smart idea. You also will not want to go overboard with the chosen color, theme or pattern. Since girls’ bedding sets are often sold piece by piece, it will be easy to just purchase the items that you need. You may choose to have a patterned comforter paired with neutral curtains. This will help keep you within budget and prevent your little girls’ room from becoming an overdone show-room.
